Meet the Maker Day 2: My Paradigm Shift

WHY BODY CARE PRODUCTS?

Usually I make New Year's resolutions, but rarely stick with them throughout the year. Earlier in 2016, I decided that I needed to eat more fruits and vegetables. My goal was to have "Meaty Mondays" instead of the recent fad of "Meatless Mondays." Along with this goal was eating real food. I had been cutting out high fructose corn syrup, but there are tons of other highly processed, manmade foods we eat! Instead of navigating the maze of what are "disodium inosinate" and "disodium guanylate," I made drastic steps to eliminate it.

Since I am being more careful about what goes in my body, I looked at what I was putting on my body. As I alluded to on our About Us page, I was struggling with some adult acne. No matter what I tried, nothing seemed to help - in fact, I felt I got worse!

So I did some reading about oil cleansing. I gave it a shot and it worked! I still have the occasional "bad spot," but nothing like I had!

I was also dabbling with all-natural body lotion bars. I had a failed attempt that I tried to fix and failed again and tried again, then I ended up with the best lip balm. Who knew?!

There are a number of other reasons for my diet and my ambition for an all-natural lifestyle. Actually, I find it remarkable how much my lifestyle has changed in the past year! If you want to learn more, check out these documentaries:

The Corporation

"Provoking, witty, stylish and sweepingly informative, THE CORPORATION explores the nature and spectacular rise of the dominant institution of our time...Taking its status as a legal "person" to the logical conclusion, the film puts the corporation on the psychiatrist's couch to ask "What kind of person is it?" The Corporation includes interviews with 40 corporate insiders and critics..." - http://thecorporation.com

Plastic Paradise

"Thousands of miles away from civilization, Midway Atoll [has] become ground zero for The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, syphoning plastics from three distant continents. In this independent documentary film, journalist/filmmaker Angela Sun travels on a personal journey of discovery to uncover this mysterious phenomenon...and learns the problem is more insidious than we could have ever imagined." - http://plasticparadisemovie.com/

PlantPure Nation

"The documentary film PlantPure Nation tells the story of three people on a quest to spread the message of one of the most important health breakthroughs of all time...In his groundbreaking 2004 book, The China Study, and in the recent popular documentary film Forks Over Knives, Dr. Campbell detailed the weight of scientific evidence that a whole foods plant-based diet can prevent and even reverse some of the most deadly health conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and even some forms of cancer." - http://www.plantpurenation.com/

Cowspiracy

"Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret is a groundbreaking feature-length environmental documentary following intrepid filmmaker Kip Andersen as he uncovers the most destructive industry facing the planet today – and investigates why the world’s leading environmental organizations are too afraid to talk about it.

Animal agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation, water consumption and pollution, is responsible for more greenhouse gases than the transportation industry, and is a primary driver of rainforest destruction, species extinction, habitat loss, topsoil erosion, ocean “dead zones,” and virtually every other environmental ill. Yet it goes on, almost entirely unchallenged." - http://www.cowspiracy.com/

Food Matters

"For us our health journey started with helping my dad heal from chronic fatigue syndrome, depression and anxiety. The Food Matters film was instrumental in his recovery, but most importantly in helping him expand his belief system from 'doctors heal me' to 'I can heal myself'. To us films are the most powerful medium for change and can help you get from A-Z on a topic as quickly as possible. Browse some of our projects below or see what new releases are featuring on FMTV right now!" -  http://www.foodmatters.com/
